Happy Easter!


As we approach the long bank holiday weekend and the Easter Break, we have collated a list of a few ideas to keep you and the family busy over the weekend.


Tall Ships Festivals 2017- 13th April until 16th April 2017

Over the Easter weekend, Maritime Greenwich and Woolwich will host the start of the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta. Visitors will be able to get on board the nearly 30 Tall Ships that will be visiting, and there'll be plenty of street shows and stage performances to keep you entertained. Throughout the festival, street performers will roam both the Woolwich and Greenwich festival sites, drumming up a lively atmosphere and interacting with festival goers

The opening night in Woolwich is on Thursday 13 April, which will feature a spectacular performance of light, sound and water. This spectacular event will run until Sunday 16th April. 

Visitors can get on board ships moored at Woolwich Pier from 9.30am to 4.30pm free of charge. For ships moored in the river at Greenwich, tickets are available on the day. To visit the ships via the Greenwich Pier shuttle, service will be running from 9.30am to 4.45pm. The tickets cost £10 for adults, £8 for children under 16 and £30 for a family.



The Easter Egg Hunt @ Deptford Market Yard - Saturday 15th April

On Saturday 15th April join The Salvation Army for an afternoon of Easter activities in Deptford Market Yard. You can enjoy live music; crafts for children, an Easter Egg hunt, a penalty shootout competition, face painting and loads more.

The event is being held on Saturday 15th April 12pm - 4pm with an outdoor Film screening of Invictus starting at 7:30pm. This is a free event.


Horniman Easter Fair - Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 April 2017

One for the whole family, you can enjoy the Easter weekend at the Horniman. Go on their Easter trail, create something crafty in our workshops and dare to venture through the rabbit hole for a special storytelling performance inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

Easter Egg Hunt in Blackheath- Saturday 15th April 2017

For a perfect day out for the whole family you can visit Mycenae Gardens in Blackheath. On the day they'll be face painting, cake stalls, tombola and prizes for the best Easter Bonnet and Basket.

The event starts at 1:00pm and finishes at 3:30pm with entry only costing £2.50.


Zippo Circus – Various dates

The world famous Zippos circus is back in Blackheath with two showings a day between now and the end of the Easter Break.

Zippo’s Circus will welcome the thundering hooves of acrobatic Cossack riding into a UK circus ring for the first time in 30 years with the appearance of the Khadikov Jigit Riders from Kazakhstan.

Their astonishing and fearless jigitovka trick-riding beautifully showcases the extraordinary relationship between man and horse and is a must see for all circus and equestrian fans.

Royal Maritime Greenwich Ghost Tour

Discover the darker side of Greenwich World Heritage Site. Hear of drunken sailors sent to "Shanghai", the Cutty Sark Curse. Explore hidden laneways, London's oldest park, the creepiest tunnel in the UK and Royal secrets. The tour includes a visit to Charles Dickens' favourite haunted pub.

Ticket prices start from £9 for Children and £14 for Adults and the tour starts at 7:30pm and lasts for approximately 90 mins.
